Well with the CCC Yellowjackets finished and my USCR basecoated I figure it was as good a time as any to do some work on the battlefield I want to play over.
I ordered a 4x4' Zuzzy Asphalt mat some time ago with plans on cutting it up to make a 3x3' mat and a 2x3' smaller table for Mercs, which I got around to doing over the weekend.
Then it was time to finally unpack my box of Precision Model Design 28mm factory scenery that I bought during their excellent Chrismas sale.
So far I've built my Factory building and box of five outbuildings (a great deal!), which more than fills up the MERCs table. I've accessorised them with techy bits to take them to a eighties/nineties soviet era, which the metal roof and a custom paint scheme will help to reinforce. Think STALKER, Singularity or Metro 2033 for inspiration.
The models come with pre-cut MDF bases and are fairly dense and high quality resin. All the pieces are interchangable and I had a lot of leftovers which I can use for future accessories for the terrain set. Overall happy with the quality of the merchandise!
A quick overview of the whole setup now that its assembled.
Front of the factory style building. I've added a sign in plasticard which I will make appropriately Soviet. The interior I added a second level to with plastic I-beams and card. All interior flooring I added as well with textured plasticard.
This rain shelter with and without roof has some cork debris added and a plasticard floor inside. The light was also from a GW Sentinel kit.
A simple shed for storage. Same additions as the rain shelter.
This parking shelter was done up with the same cork and plasticard interior. Not sure what kind of vehicle I want to store in here, but I'll come up with something removable.
Two outbuildings that could be living quarters or offices. I added the electrical boxes to the outside to tech them up a bit and may strew it with MBA furniture sometime in the future.
I will be priming these up hopefully tonight. As airbrushing/masking them will be time intensive that will be something for my days off next week, but the bulk of the work is done! I've got some storage tanks (2) and a open air storage shed with crates/etc. still to assemble from this order, bit I think I've got more than enough to work on for now!
Broken and intact windows will be added to all the buildings once painting is done. I use old blister pack for this along with white glue to keep it from fogging. More to come!
